Guide Right Program

Guide Right Program

The Guide Right Program is sponsored by Petersburg Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and participants receive guidance, from current and former community leaders and members of Kappa Alpha Psi® Fraternity, Inc. that prepares them for academic success from elementary school through college. With the assistance of our community and business partners, the program provides opportunities for students and young professionals to develop their skills and talents. With the use of experiential and engaging activities that are carefully designed, we strive to inspire participant interest in lifting up the communities they live in, realize their unlimited potential, and cultivate lives of usefulness. We are dedicated to developing knowledge, skills and resources that will take young people beyond their high school years.  Students who participate under the leadership of Kappa Alpha Psi® Fraternity, Inc., Petersburg (VA) Alumni Chapter Program will:

  • Be exposed to events that place an emphasis on culture, education, health and wealth.
  • Practice exercising their civic duties.
  • Assist the less fortunate in the community.

Kappa league

Guide Right Program

Guide Right Program

The Flagship Initiative of the Guide Right Program is the Kappa Youth Leadership Development League (Kappa League). Kappa League is a program dedicated to helping young men in grades 6th-12th develop their leadership talents in every field of human endeavor.  The nucleus and primary focus of the Kappa League revolves around "Seven Phases.” The seven phases of Kappa League are:

  • Self-Identity/ Purpose
  • Training
  • Competition
  • Social
  • Health Education
  • Economic Empowerment and Education
  • College and Career

The program has aroused the interest of the entire community in addressing the problems of youth as they seek to realize lives of usefulness. Kappa Leaguers perform projects that expose young men to planning, execution, reporting ideas, and simulating good leadership characteristics designed to raise their aspiration levels. All activities and programs are modeled around the seven phases. Kappa Leagues primary purpose is to assist young men to achieve worthy goals and to make constructive contributions to their communities when the role of leadership becomes their responsibility.
